CESAR is the annual fest of civil engineering department of ACGCET, Karaikudi. CESAR has been working as a great platform for the students to showcase and enhance their skills at the highest level since its inception in 2011.

CESAR is proud to launch its Eighth National Level  Civil Engineering Symposium, with a prime motive of encouraging young students in the field of civil engineering.


 Learning to collaborate under the stress of a ticking clock is of critical importance to any Student to come out and shine. Here at  CESAR , we provide such enthusiast to showcase their skills at the bigger stage and to clash with similar minds over problems given.


 Events provide an opportunity to interact and  get creative with your knowledge to have fun with total strangers. 

About us



Dr.RM.Alagappa Chettiar, a man of rare wisdom, and forethought, founded  Alagappa Chettiar Educational Trust  with the sole aim of developing the backward area of Karaikudi into a centre for higher education and provided necessary funds for the establishment of educational institutions. On the Occasion of laying the foundation stone of the central Electro Chemical Research Institue by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on 25th july 1948. 

Dr.Alagappa Chettiar, in his Welcome address, said “It is my hope to start here an Engineering College immediately. A College with Dr.Alagappa Chettiar and the University of Madras willing start functioning with Civil Engineering by academic year 1949.”


In 1952, Dr. Alagappa Chettiar’s dream came true. Alagappa Chettiar College of Engg & Tech., Started functioning from 21st July 1952 with three faculties – Civil,Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics Engineering. The Foundation tablet for the main building of the college was laid by Dr.Rajendra Prasad, the then President of India on 19 th February 1953.


The Department of Civil Engineering has been making strides in the arena of engineering for more than five decades. The state of the art infrastructure and eminent faculty have bestowed the students with immense technical acumen and spirit of innovation.
